What is tetherscan.io?
+
A public block explorer indexed by @tether.me usernames instead of hex addresses.
Type any Tether Wallet username and see their stable addresses + on-chain
transaction history across Bitcoin, Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, Plasma, and Spark —
aggregated from public block explorers.
How do I look up a username?
+
Type the username (e.g.
tom6) into the search box at the top.
You can also paste the full UMA address like
[email protected] —
the
@tether.me suffix gets stripped automatically.
Or share a permalink directly:
tetherscan.io/u/tom6.
What chains and tokens are supported?
+
Bitcoin (on-chain), Spark (Bitcoin L2),
Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum,
and Plasma. Tokens recognized: USDT, USDT0, XAUT, USAT, BTC.
Lightning isn't shown — see the next question.
Why don't I see Lightning payments?
+
Lightning settles off-chain through rotating BOLT11 invoices that exist only between sender and
receiver — they never touch a public blockchain. This is by design for privacy.
We can only show on-chain settled txs.
Why don't I see who sent me money by username?
+
Blockchains store addresses, not usernames. The username → address direction works
(via tether.me/.well-known/lnurlp/), but the reverse is intentionally not exposed —
even the official Tether Wallet app shows the raw sender address on inbound txs. We do tag any sender
you've previously searched on this device, using a local cache.
How are USD values calculated?
+
Stablecoins (USDT, USDT0, USDC, USAT, etc.) are valued 1:1 with USD. Volatile assets
(BTC, ETH, MATIC, XAUT) use historical daily spot prices from CoinGecko at the moment of each
transaction. Live balances aren't shown — only transaction-time values.
Do you store my data or track me?
+
No accounts, no cookies, no analytics, no query logging.
The only data stored anywhere is the username → addresses cache that
lives in your browser's localStorage, used to tag known counterparties in tx history.
You can clear it any time from your browser settings.
Is tetherscan.io affiliated with Tether?
+
No. tetherscan.io is an independent public block explorer built on top of open protocols
(UMA, LNURL-pay) and public APIs (tether.me, mempool.space, sparkscan.io, Blockscout, CoinGecko).
Not affiliated with Tether Operations Ltd. All trademarks belong to their respective owners.
